If anyone recieves the "Failed to download server information. Please restart launcher." error you'll need to clear your temp files and cookies then restart the launcher (just verified on several machines this does indeed still work so if it doesn't - you're doing it wrong!)


Please, please, please:

DO NOT BYPASS THE LAUNCHER! You'll only cause more problems if you mess it up.

Windows Vista

1. Click the Windows Start menu.
2. Select Control Panel, (or Settings and then Control Panel).
3. Select Internet Options, (or Network and Internet Connections and then Internet Options).
4. Under Browsing History, click the Delete button.
5. In the Delete Browsing History window, click the Delete Files button.
6. When asked if you are sure you want to delete all temporary Internet files, click Yes.
7. To close the windows, click Close, then Ok


Windows XP

1. Click the Windows Start menu.
2. Select Control Panel, (or Settings and then Control Panel).
3. Select Internet Options, (or Network and Internet Connections and then Internet Options).
4. Select the General tab.
5. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Delete Files button.
6. Do not check the clear Offline Content box. Click Ok.
7. Close the Internet Properties and Control Panel windows.



Internet Explorer 7.0

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Select the Tools menu.
3. Select Internet Options.
4. Under Browsing History, click the Delete button.
5. In the Delete Browsing History window, click the Delete Files button.
6. When asked if you are sure you want to delete all temporary Internet files, click Yes.
7. To close the windows, click Close, then Ok.


Internet Explorer 6.0

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Select the Tools menu.
3. Select Internet Options.
4. Select the General tab.
5. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Delete Files button.
6. Do not check the clear Offline Content box. Click Ok.
7. Click Ok to close the Tools window.




Firefox 3.0

1. Open FireFox (Mozilla).
2. Click the Tools menu.
3. Click Clear Private Data.
4. Check Cache. Note that any other checked items will also be cleared, so un-check any that you do not want to clear.
5. Click the Clear Private Data Now button.



Firefox, older versions

1. Open FireFox (Mozilla).
2. Click the Tools menu.
3. Click Options.
4. Click Privacy.
5. Click the Clear button for Cache.




Safari 3.1.2

1. Open Safari.
2. Click the Edit menu.
3. Click Empty Cache....
4. When asked if you are sure you want to empty the cache, click the Empty button.



Opera 9.5.2

1. Open Opera.
2. Click the Tools menu.
3. Click Delete Private Data.
4. In the Delete Private Data window, click Detailed Options.
5. Check Delete Entire Cache. Note that any other checked items will also be cleared, so un-check any that you do not want to clear.
6. Click Delete.



AOL 9.0

1. Click Settings.
2. Select the Index tab, and click Internet [Web] Options.
3. Under Browsing History, where it says to Delete temporary files, cookies, saved passwords, and web form information, click Delete.
4. Wait while the files are deleted, then click OK.



AOL 7.0

1. In Keyword, enter: PREFERENCES. Or, on the Settings menu on the AOL toolbar, click Preferences.
2. In the Organization section of the Preferences window, click Internet Properties (WWW).
3. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click Delete Files.
4. Click OK.




Netscape

1. Open Netscape.
2. Click the Edit menu.
3. Click Preferences.
4. Click Advanced. It expands to show a list of options.
5. Click Cache.
6. Click Clear Memory Cache.
7. Click Clear Disk Cache.
8. Click OK.


Netscape Download Manager - remove installation file

1. Click the Tools menu.
2. Click Download Manager.
3. Highlight the hotComm installation program and click Remove from list.
4. Close the Download Manager window.

Clearing Cookies

Internet Explorer 6.x - Windows

1. Within IE, go to Tools | Internet Options.
2. Click Delete Cookies.
3. Click OK.

Internet Explorer 7.x - Windows

1. Within IE, go to Tools | Internet Options.
2. Click on the General tab and then click the Delete... button.
3. Click the Delete cookies button.
4. Click the Yes button.
5. Then click the Close button, followed by the OK button.

Internet Explorer - Mac

1. On a Classic OS machine, go to Edit | Preferences. On OS X go to Explorer | Preferences.
2. Expand the Receiving Files option on the left if it isn’t already.
3. Click Cookies.
4. In the box that displays all the cookies on the machine, click once to select one, and then press Command-A to select all.
5. Click Delete.
6. Click OK.

Netscape 7.x/Mozilla - Windows

1. Within Netscape, go to Tools | Cookie Manager | Manage Stored Cookies.
2. Click Remove All Cookies.

Netscape 7.x/Mozilla - Mac

1. Within Netscape, go to Tools | Cookie Manager | Manage Stored Cookies.
2. Click Remove All Cookies.
3. Click OK.

Firefox 1.5 - Windows

1. Open Firefox and go to Tools | Options.
2. Click Privacy.
3. View the "Cookies" tab and click the Clear Cookies Now (older versions of Firefox are very similar to these instructions).

Firefox 2.x - Windows

1. Open Firefox and go to Tools | Options.
2. Click Privacy.
3. Click the "Show Cookies" button and then click the Remove All Cookies button.

Firefox 3.x - Windows

1. Open Firefox and go to Tools | Options.
2. Click Privacy.
3. Click the "Show Cookies" button and then click the Remove All Cookies button.

Firefox 1.5 - Mac

1. Open Firefox and go to Firefox | Preferences.
2. Click Privacy.
3. View the "Cookies" tab and click the Clear Cookies Now (older versions of Firefox are very similar to these instructions).

1. Open Safari and go to Safari | Preferences.
2. Click Security.
3. Click Show Cookies.
4. Click Remove All.
