View Full Version : Non-stop EC6 421 + can't delete the GG folder
I started to get non-stop error code 6 421 few days ago.
Every time I log in it pops up. Can't do anything.
I tried to delete the GG folder. It doesn't let me. It tells me that some program is using the folder/files in it. I closed all programs + more stuff in Task Manager - nothing.
Then I went to safe mode. I was able to delete it. It re-downloaded itself, but it didn't fix this annoying problem.
What is using my GG files?!
Why isn't the newly downloaded GG working?
Please help. Thanks!
Have a nice day,
Zaborg
I've got seriously no idea, Cabal is working fine here like usually.
I don't think it's your newly downloaded GG not working, it's more like... something is in conflict it, causing those errors...
Did those errors started to happen right after a recent gameguard update (I don't remember when the last one was xd), or was it like some days after it?
I guess you didn't update/install/change any program lately?
You were only able to delete the gameguard folder in safemode? It didn't work either with a normal reboot or did you just simply boot into safemode immediately?
Tried a clean Cabal reinstall?
BitDefender. That is what I installed and looks suspicious...Any information about BitDefender + Cabal ?
By the way, I can't restart/shut down my PC anymore from Start menu. If I click restart/shut down, nothing happens... O_o I can spam it, still not shutting down. Have to hold down the on/off button now...which is not good for the system :s
Eh, is that a legal version of Bitdefender :P? Either way you might want to switch to MSE or Avira as a antivirus program replacement, if Bitdefender is being nasty with Gameguard atm...
If the restart/shutdown buttons are seriously not working anymore after you had installed that Bitdefender, then you might seriously consider trying to uninstall it... and try an online virus scanning and malware scan with malwarebytes etc.
A Windows repair installation might be needed when the basic Windows function are damaged beyond repair... (easy thing to do, but yeah... annoying...).
Yeah I unistalled it now, I knew that something went wrong after I installed it O_o And thanks for the antivirus tips. What are you using? I'm thinking about installing a new antivirus now. :)
I'm using crappy Mcafee legally atm, because I get it for free via my provider and I've been using it for years...
As far as it comes to free antivirus programs, I've only tried MSE for a few weeks and gameguard worked fine with it during that time. Avira also sounded problemless the last few months on the forums, so it might be safe to use ;p.
I'd evade Avast and AVG though.
