Hello,

before i start to describe my problem here is a picture of it:

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/528/lolwtfomg.png/

It says that the update.exe is an incompatible 16bit version file and that it can't be launched on my windows 7 64bit version.

I already reinstalled the game kinda 10 times on different drives and folders, did manual updates, ran it as adminsitrator and red some topics in the forum but no one could solve my problem. Especially i searched for keywords like: "updater" ; "Windows7" ; "64bit" and went through all the posts! And there wasn't anything usefull.

So please help me. Its so damn annoying. I woke up 4 hours ago trying to run cabal -.-

Try following this guide http://forum.cabalonline.com/showthread.php?188701-Guide-How-to-properly-(re)install-Cabal-client-manually.-(Last-updated-19-08-2011) to correctly install Cabal.

Make note that you have to install Cabal on an administrator account with "run as administrator" (or with UAC disabled) to install Cabal correctly. And set it to "run as adminstrator" to start up as well, if you have UAC enabled.

This didn't work for me.

It probably is a problem with the updater.exe!

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/829/continues1.png/

After i installed the game the updater.exe had about 500kb. Than after starting it the first time, with the error appearing again, the updater.exe size reduces to 9kb. Normal or unusual? Help!?

And if this helps to find a solution: I'm unsing a Notebook. Nividia Geforce GT540M 2Gb
Intel Core i5-2410M, 2,3GHZ

It is an Asus from A53S - Series.

That's weird indeed, but I have no idea what is causing it though.

Honestly, I have never experienced this error on my own screen, but you can just delete update.exe and start with cabalmain.exe instead and the launcher would redownload update.exe to see what happens now.

Try start cabal in compatibility mode as win xp sp2
Delete update.exe - it will download another
If u have installed all updates - create shortcut of cabalmain.exe and in the end of path
"C:\blahblah\cabal online\cabalmain.exe" write husky:
("C:\blahblah\cabal online\cabalmain.exe" husky) for example

@Lewkaj Your answer helped me. My cabal actually starts. Thats great. But i guess i have to manual patch at all ;)

@Pado: Deleting the update.exe leads to getting the same error again.

I guess i am doomed to manual patch :D

Thanks for your help!

Something on your PC (most likely your antivirus program) has some problems with update.exe or/and other launcher related files I guess.

Manual patching (http://forum.cabalonline.com/showthread.php?190677-Manual-Patch-Update-565-569-(last-updated-06-10-2011)) + husky should do the trick to get Cabal to launch as you've already figured out.

Yes, it works after manual patch ;)
Big thanks to both of you!

I know this is a bit late, but it can still work, it did for me... You can also go here http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-gaming/hellgate-london-will-not-start-too-many-issues/f69be5a4-3449-4a21-9e7e-770efc7f7c37 and try that to get Cabal to work and update, I know this was a question about Hellgate: London, but it can also work for Cabal. Try here too http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Change-Data-Execution-Prevention-settings and navigate to your Cabal directory add all the exe files you see there to the DEP list, as well as running as an admin and for XP SP2.
