Vampiric guide - HP steal % and leech

There seems to be a lot of confusion over this subject. So let me just clear it up.

There is a leech-limit you CANNOT gain more than 5% of your own hp and mp per hit. So let's say for example, your HP is 3,000. This means the total maximum amount of HP you can hope to steal from a mob in 1 hit is 3,000 * 0.05 = 150. And your MP is 2,000. This means the total maximum amount of HP you can hope to steal from a mob in 1 hit is 2,000 * 0.05 = 100.

Now comes your max leech. This is given by your character level divided by 10, so let's say you are lvl 150. Your max leech will be 150/10 = 15.

To increase this limit, you must equip vampiric items. So let's say you have 2x vampiric earrings +4 equipped (+30 max hp steal per hit each), and a vampiric amulet +5 (+45 hp steal per hit), this is +105 max hp steal per hit total.

Now let's say we are wearing 1 extortion bracelet +4, this gives 4% hp steal of the total damage. So imagine we hit a mob and damage it for 5,000hp. We will gain 4% of this which = 5,000 x 0.04 = 200HP.

But as we are only wearing +105 max HP steal per hit from equipment and our base leech is 15 HP (lvl 150 divided by 10) we only gain 120hp from the mob.

Not really depends on how much hp/hp steal per hit you got, if you have for example 3000 life points.

Highest amount you could leech would be: 150 hp (because of the 5% from your life points).

Let's say you have 7% hp leech and you hit 5000 dmg per hit xD would mean you could reach 350 hp from each mob (and no you can't reach 350 cuze of the 150 (the 5% of your life points which is the max.!) but now you need max hp steal per hit items which push up the amount you can leech. Let's see you are lvl 150 which would mean you got already 15 hp steal per hit + white board 20 hp still per hit + vamp earrings 60 per hit in total 95.

In that case 7% would be totally useless

Wouldn't honestly go over 5% and it always depends on how much you hit with a skill.

Meh too lazy to think right naw BTW me 141 blader and have 4% steal and +90 max HP steal with lowest dmg about 3k ... I grind on auto-attack in PF :P

lol you should drop gloves and bracelet.

With only 60 max hp steal (+15 base), the 2% from board would be enough to leech max at 4k dmg :P

You've just been given a very easy-to-understand guide on how to calculate your vamp yourself - so why are you making others do it for you?


With just board you leech 2% of 4k dmg. Thats 4000*0,02 = 80.

The max you can leech without amu is 30+30 (earrings) + 15 base (10% of your lvl) = 75.

So you would get 75 hp per hit.

(I assume you get 20 from board as well, but you didnt acutally mention this. This would mean your leech cap is 95 instead, making you leech the full 80 hp you get from 2% hp steal).


Putting on a vamp amu you get additional 40 max hp steal.
60 (earrings) + 15 (base) + 20 (board) + 40 (amu) = 135.

That means theres no point having more leech than 4% hp steal, as this would make you leech as much as possible.

(4% of 4000 is 160, your vamp cap is 135).

Hi, I have notic. That when I do my pve combo, the amount of HP I leech is much higher with comp & gm.
I'm a blader 148, I use 7% HP steal (White board, pet & exto bracelet +4), with cap @ 134HP (vamp amu 40, earrings 30*2, board 20, lv 14).
My combo is :
VI (1632 dmg, 114 max HP leech)
Double slash (1486 dmg, 104 leech)
SG (2176 dmg, 134 leech)
GM (6101 dmg, 134 leech)
Comp (6396 dmg, 134 leech)

Small skills do almost no leech but comp & GM fill my life bar, when all skills have quite equivalent leeching levels. I thought the difference came from the number of targets but it doesn't seem to be so obvious, for example when I have only 3 or 4 mobs around me and all skills hit all the mobs...

Anybody has an explanation for this??? For example some leech cap increased for GM & Comp ??
