Can't run client :)

Basically.

I've done a fresh install of my win7 because I got a virus, everything was running fine and well until then.

Now, I've bought a new HD re-installed win7 and only a few programs.

Avast, Google Chrome, Skype, CCleaner, WinZip and Cabal.

Now every application on the computer runs without any problem except cabal, the process will run in the background but nothing shows up on my screen.

Out of all the applications, Cabal On line is the only application that has the "Windows Defender" icon located on the short for cabal.exe/updater.exe.

It worked fine last night, but after I installed all(128) windows updates it wont work at all (before it worked fine).

I tried fresh install and the 3 different clients same thing. If I restore my PC back to original date cabal ran ( 13th) , it will run cabal however, I want to have my win7 fully updated as well as cabal running because in the past it worked fine with the same operating system but not now :O

Also tryed to run cabal without Avast, Firewall and Windows Defender running. It's the same occurrence. Only the process ( for Updater) but no physical client or updater appears on screen. Though, I can run other games ( tested Allods, dawn of war, etc they all run without any problems.


Do you live in Europe? Yes, played in EU for like 5 years :)

What operating system are you using?
Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (6.1, Build 7600)

Please provide as many system specifications as you can (DxDiag would be even better)

Which firewall(s) are you currently using?

Windows Firewall (installed with win7)

Have you allowed Cabal in your firewall access list or, better yet, disabled your firewall?
Yes, still no change.

Which Anti-virus software are you currently using?

Avast free version.

Did you install CABAL Online (Europe) using an account with administrator privileges?
Yes, I only have 1 User account.

Are you trying to run the game using an account with administrator privileges?
Yes, I only have 1 user account.

After you installed the client did you run the launcher and/or let the launcher update the game automatically?

I've done in it both ways no change what so ever.

Please add attachments (screenshots) from your process list, error recieved and DxDiag file if applicable.

No errors as such simply cabal wont run ( even with all antivirus, firewall etc turned off)

This suggests a simple fix run IE go to youtube and play any video in the background. Then run the launcher and it should work.

Also make sure all drivers are up to date Direct X,Graphics etc etc but the main issue is the cache since the launcher use's IE it uses the IE cache to boot up. No idea why but it does.

All my drivers etc are up-to-date but ill try what you said.

Edit: Well now the updater shows "on my screen" after about 2 min delay but fails to connect to server :]

Np like I said it should work I had the same issue with my new build and on an old laptop I had been using for 10 months to play.

I'll just try a re-run, reset my modem etc at least the update actually opens now :P

Not everytime when you want to play just those few times it happens. A restart does also work sometimes as well but its more down to IE and watching a youtube vid.

The running youtube with Internet Explorer to fill the cache to get the launcher is only extra insurance to make sure it will work, after you had wiped the cache of IE with CCleaner. Generally speaking, you'd only need to start IE once to get the launcher to load again.

I bet you only added Cabal's folder to Avast's File System Shield's Exclusion list?

You need to add update.exe to the Web Shield's Exclusion list as well to get the launcher working permanently.

Did what you said and it works w/o a problem now ( except when my cpu decides to kill itself(normal for my pc).
