2) GameGuard Won’t Start ( Or you receive the ERL error upon launch )
GameGuard has 4 and ONLY 4 reasons why it won’t start :
a) The FIREWALL blocks GameGuard from launching properly
Solution : Add the GameGuard .ERL and .DES files to the exception list of the firewall you are using. Disabling the firewall is not enough as most of them have backups in case kids disable them by mistake. This means that a monitoring exe will still remain open and block GameGuard.
b) The ROUTER is not forwarding the ports needed by GameGuard to run properly.
Solution : Enter the Router Configuration Page and manually forward the ports that GameGuard and Cabal use , and make sure that the firewall inside the router allows the traffic (same as a) ). Also , disable Universal Plug And Play. This may happen in some cases (to me it happened) , and UPnP really messes the forwarding in the LAN IP’s
c) GameGuard itself is corrupt.
Solution : The same as with the updating DAT files, GameGuard might be corrupted . In this case, I will upload a fully updated working GG folder and link it here as soon as I can.
d) Software that is blocking Cabal / GG
Solution : Disable , uninstall software that is incompatible with GameGuard / Cabal.
So far, AVG antivirus, Panda antivirus , Outpost Firewall , Logitech SetPoint , Kaspersky 7.0 , etc.
If Cabal shuts down on loading or GG splash screen , make sure you post the PROCESS list from the Task Manager.
